About Debbie Callahan

Debbie Callahan was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana and from an early age showed interest in painting and drawing. In recent years she has worked primarily in acrylic paint, chalk pastel and watercolor, doing mostly figurative and still life paintings.

Since 1984, Debbie has lived and worked in Wauwatosa, WI with her husband and two, now grown, sons. She paints professionally and is co-owner of The Martini Girls Gallery & Studio, LLC.

Debbie never had the opportunity to attend college and study art. She learned though reading, trial and error, and lessons from other artists. Debbie has studied with many accomplished artists, including James Hempel, Terry Stanley, Joy Moon and Fred Bell. One of Debbie’s pieces, Madonna & Child, was featured on the front page of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Christmas Day 2012 as the “Gift of Art” to Wisconsin from the publishers.

As a celebration of her birthday in 2015 her family established a scholarship fund in her name: the Debbie Callahan Arts Fund or DCAF. It is intended to assist deserving individuals attend an art school or study art at a college or university of their choice.
